Nerf Review: Nerf Vortex Praxis

Nerf Review: Nerf Vortex Praxis

This is the primary in my new vortex arsenal, and a wonderful primary it is!  Enjoy the review!

(More after the break)

GENERAL INFO:
Included 1 blaster, 1 stock, 1 clip, and 10 discs.

MY IDEAS OF THE BLASTER:
Praxis
(courtesy of Nerf Wiki)
Most blaster series have their “recon cs-6,” and the vortex series is no exception.  A clip fed, springer action, easy to use blaster.  The Retaliator for the elite series.  The Apollo for the Rival Series.  Mega has a Magnus.  Vortex has the Praxis.
One of the great things about the Praxis’ firing, is that it has a pump-grip for easy priming!  Both trigger and mag release are located comfortable close to each other.
I used this at a recent nerf war, and I dominated many of the games we played!
It is a very good blaster that I can now use in any event, thanks to my 20-disc clip!  (I didn’t want to use the Praxis in HvC with one ten-disc clip.
A Stock Praxis does much better with off-brand ammunition than a Stock Vigilion.  Using off-brand ammo in a Praxis just makes it tougher to prime.  I just “muscle” through it, or prime it fast.  Not a major problem.  If your buying off-brand ammo, you have probably delved more into nerf than the average kid.
Praxis Locks

Mod Potential:
Strengthening the torsion spring and removing locks are two amazing standard mods for this blaster.  The strengthening did not do much for my blaster, but removing locks did.  For those who wish to follow suite, I have posted a picture of what you can remove.  Removing locks on my Praxis and Vigilion allow the blaster to take off brand ammo very easily.

Updated: I reverted my Praxis back to stock US power.  The extra power does nothing but hurt range and accuracy when it comes to off-brand discs.  I currently have it on the middle rung rather than the strongest rung.  I highly recommend US Stock power vs. Australia or Super Stock when using off-brand discs.

RANGES:
35-40 feet flat (Off-brand disc) Vortex blasters aren’t too good when you have a harsh angle, although a slight angle is good.  They get about the same range as a stock elite blaster when stock and fired flat.

45-55 feet flat with nerf brand ammunition.  Their original 60 foot claims aren't that far off.  This was tested in sub-par weather conditions (Wet, muddy, and misty).

ACCURACY:
(Tested after modifications) (True in stock form as well) Accuracy is very good at 20 feet.  At about 25 feet, it’s accuracy begins to diminish, likely because of vortex curve.

As I said, I recommend removing locks, but don't increase the power using the standard torsion spring modification.  It makes the discs go too fast, and didn't really increase range.
