Nerf Blast from the Past Review: Nerf Vortex Proton
GENERAL INFO:
Included
was a blaster and 3 discs. (In both packages)
There were also a special package or two released with the proton. (2-packs and such).
Besides the original were a white recolor and a sonic series proton.

MY IDEAS OF THE BLASTER:
The
blaster is a mini power house, but we are going to get into that later. Lets start with the basics:
Released
in the first vortex wave release, and 1 of 7 blasters, the proton has received
2 paint jobs: The original, and a white
recolor. The white recolor looks sweet
in my opinion. Picture posted to the right.
(More after the break)
Modification Potential:
As
with all first wave vortex blasters, the blasters torsion springs can be
re-tuned by moving the spring’s tension back a notch, but that is about
it. Vortex blasters didn’t have much modification potential.
RANGES:
Impressive for what it is. The blaster with Nerf Ammo hit 50-55 feet flat. FPS was lower compared to dart blasters,
simply due to how discs have slower FPS
The Off-brand discs came in with a little less range at around 50-53 feet. The discs began to veer off at around 35-40
feet, giving the user 35 to 40 feet of usable distance!
ACCURACY:
As I said above, the discs begin
to veer off around 35 to 40 feet, and the proton’s accuracy is decent up to
that point.
If you can master the curving of
vortex discs, and learn the tips and tricks, but want a primarily dart-based
loadout, this is a good blaster for you.
Small, easy to carry, but works well with accuracy, trick shots, and
range. The only cons of this blaster are
the facts that FPS is lower with disc blasters, and that you only have 1 disc
you can fire before you must reload.
In conclusion, I give this
blaster a good review, and I would recommend it.
